Why photos upload sideways
Phones store a photo the way the sensor saw it and add an orientation tag saying how to turn it. Gallery apps read the tag, but some websites and upload forms ignore it, so the photo appears sideways. Rotating it here and saving a new file "bakes in" the correct orientation, so it looks right everywhere.
Mirror a selfie
Front cameras often save a mirrored image, so text on your T-shirt reads backwards. Flip horizontal fixes it. To rotate a page inside a PDF instead, use Organize PDF.
Mirror image: flip a photo horizontally
A mirror image is the photo flipped left to right. Use Flip horizontal to undo the mirror effect of front-camera selfies (text on a T-shirt or sign reads correctly again), or to create a mirrored copy on purpose. Flip vertical turns a photo upside down like a reflection in water. Flipping keeps the width and height; rotating by 90° swaps them.
Tilted photos
This tool turns photos in 90° steps and flips them. It does not straighten a picture that is slightly crooked (for example 5°); for documents, retake the photo straight on, or crop it with your phone's editor, which usually has a straighten slider. For PDF pages, use Organize PDF.
