What is the password of the e-Aadhaar PDF?

Quick answer

The e-Aadhaar PDF password is the first four letters of your name as printed on Aadhaar, in capital letters, followed by your year of birth. For example, SURESH KUMAR born in 1990 has the password SURE1990. Spaces are skipped, so RIA SHARMA becomes RIAS1990, while dots in initials are kept, so S.N. SHEKHARAN born in 1976 becomes S.N.1976.

  1. Type your name exactly as printed on the card and your year of birth.
  2. Choose the e-Aadhaar PDF you downloaded from UIDAI or mAadhaar.
  3. Press Unlock to save it without a password, as a PDF or JPG.

SURESH KUMAR1990SURE1990
RIA SHARMA1990RIAS1990
S.N. SHEKHARAN1976S.N.1976

The tool tries the common variations automatically (with and without dots, first word only), so a small doubt about initials does not stop you.

Why unlock or convert your e-Aadhaar?

Many upload forms reject password-protected PDFs, and printing shops often cannot open them. An unlocked copy uploads and prints anywhere. Saving as JPG gives you an image of the card for forms that only accept photos; to make a single PDF of the front and back from photos instead, use Aadhaar card to PDF.

Keep unlocked copies private. Anyone with the file can see your Aadhaar details, so share it only where Aadhaar is legitimately required, or use a masked Aadhaar downloaded from UIDAI.

Password not working? Check these in order

  1. Capital letters. "rahu1990" fails; "RAHU1990" works.
  2. Name exactly as printed on the card, not as on your certificates. Initials and dots count: "S.KUMARAN" gives "S.KU".
  3. No spaces. "RIA SHARMA" gives "RIAS", not "RIA ".
  4. Year of birth printed on the Aadhaar, which can differ from your school records.
  5. The right file. A downloaded file from another app or a forwarded copy may have been re-saved with a different password.

The tool above tries the common variations automatically, so typing the name once is usually enough.

Masked Aadhaar, mAadhaar and Jan Aadhaar

Masked Aadhaar (only the last four digits visible) is downloaded from the same UIDAI page and uses the same password rule; it is the safer copy to share for KYC. Files from the mAadhaar app also use the same rule. Jan Aadhaar is a different card issued by the Rajasthan government and is not covered by this tool.

Aadhaar PDF Password FAQs

My name has only three letters. What is the password?

Spaces are ignored, so the first letter of the next word is used. RIA SHARMA becomes RIAS plus the year. If the whole name is three letters, the password is those three letters plus the year.

Is the password in capital letters?

Yes. The letters must be capitals even if your name is printed in mixed case on the card.

The password is not working. What should I check?

Use the spelling exactly as printed on the card, including initials and dots, and check the year of birth on the card itself, which can differ from your certificates.

Is this the official UIDAI website?

No. This is an independent tool that opens a file you already downloaded. Download e-Aadhaar only from the official UIDAI website or the mAadhaar app.

What is the e-Aadhaar password?

The first four letters of your name as printed on Aadhaar, in capital letters, followed by your year of birth, for example SURE1990.

Is the password the same for masked Aadhaar?

Yes. Masked and regular e-Aadhaar PDFs downloaded from UIDAI use the same password rule.

Why is my Aadhaar PDF password not working?

Usually small letters, a space, the name spelled differently from the card, or a different year of birth. Type the name exactly as printed and let the tool try the variations.

How do I open Aadhaar PDF on mobile?

Choose the PDF on this page, type your name and year of birth, and save it as an unlocked PDF or JPG. Or open it in any PDF app and type the password when asked.
